The principles for manufacturing planning and control primarily concern with how inventories and production are managed to ensure the greatest possible level of profitability. To be profitable, a company must organize their resources to make the right goods at the right time at the right quality and do so as economically as possible.
In the long and short run, manufacturing must devise plans to balance the demands of the marketplace with the resources and capacity of the company.
